And if you need inspiration for letting your freak flag fly, check out these tattooed famous folks whose freaky ink jobs helped establish their superstar images.
- Danny Trejo: This prolific film and TV actor can thank his unique tattoos for launching his enviable career as a Hollywood bad boy. The L.A.-born Mexican-American star sports a freaky-huge tattoo on his chest of a beautiful woman wearing a sombrero, which years ago prompted an L.A. casting agent to offer Trejo a bit part as a tatted up tough guy in a film. That invitation sparked a successful stint in entertainment that led Trejo from a previous life of crime to earning big bucks starring as tough guys, most notably in Predators and Robert Rodriguez's 2010 hit Machete.
- Gucci Mane: The Atlanta-launched rapper randomly decided to get the image of an ice cream cone and the word "Brrr" tattooed on his face to show he's a "cool" guy. The chilly tatt covers much of the right side of his face and includes a few lightning bolts for good measure. Gucci's rep has explained the freaky fixture to Rolling Stone, calling it "a reminder to fans of how [Gucci] chooses to live his life. Cool as ice. As in 'I'm so icy, I'll make ya say Brrr.'" Maybe so, but all we're saying is, Gucci wins hands down for having the freakiest tattoo to ever adorn a famous face.
- Steve O.: The fearless Jackass jokester has more ink than the NBA, and even though he's got cuss words permanently etched on his knuckles and the announcement "I Have a Small Weiner" inked on his body, it's his back tattoo that is definitely the freakiest of his body art. The egomaniacal knucklehead has a huge image of his face and the debatable words "Yeah, dude, I rock! Steve-O" covering his entire backside."
- Slayer's Kerry King: Don't ever think about sneaking up on Slayer's powerhouse guitarist; he's got eyes in the back of his head - literally. The thrash metal musician has a freaky, evil face tattooed to the back of his bald head! That's one way to make sure no one steals your wallet.
- Tom Arnold: He may have been married to Roseanne Barr at one time, but that's still no reason to get a freakishly huge tattoo of her chubby face on your chest.
- Cher: The pop legend scored a hit with "If I Could Turn Back Time" in 1989, but the song was overshadowed by its racy video in which she revealed an elegant and freakishly huge tattoo covered her mostly-exposed butt. True to form, the trendsetter was rocking cool ink years before it became a main stay in the mainstream.
- Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst: We're not sure if Courtney Love would approve but the rap-metal singer chose to show his admiration for Kurt Cobain's musical legacy by having the late Nirvana frontman's face tattooed on his chest above his heart. Tom Arnold would be proud.
- The Game: The L.A. rapper loves his hometown so much that he got the Dodgers' "LA" logo tattooed to his face, gaining a freaky edge that adds invaluable street cred.
- Korn's Jonathan Davis: The hard rock singer has a freakishly curious tatt on his bicep that reads "HIV." Despite what's written, Davis has proclaimed that he does not have HIV and got the tatt as an "F-U" to the homophobic bullies that taunted him in high school because he was into art and Duran Duran. Who knew Duran Duran could inspire such a passionate protest statement?
- Henry Rollins: The ex-Black Flag singer still rocks pretty hard. But his punk-rock rage is no match for the scary demeanor of the angry-sun tattoo that covers his entire back. It's freaky enough to scare the rain right back into the clouds.
