Latino Hunger Games
In case you haven’t noticed, the big buzz of the week revolves around The Hunger Games. This Friday, Katniss Everdeen and company return to District 9 with the all-new feature, Catching Fire. And back in the fold is Latino cast member, Nelson Ascencio.
Nelson made his Hunger debut back in 2012, as the sassy stylist Flavius. With his bright orange hair and impeccable taste, Flavius quickly became a fan fave and has a much bigger role in part 2. More importantly, he gets to share scenes with the gorgeous Jennifer Lawrence (which Nelson proudly tweeted about earlier this year).

Nelson fills Flavius’ shoes perfectly. He’s got great comic timing and had previously shown his chops on shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm and MADtv. A proud Cubano, he’s continued to represent la cultura well and will next be starring with Danny Trejo in the feature, Mucho Dinero.
And let’s not forget all of the style trends that Nelson has set with his Flavius character. Here’s a tweet showcasing his trademark orange curls (which happened to get RT’d dozens of times).
